A decade ago, I traveled in Africa. It was the most powerful experiences I’ve ever had. it shaped me deeply as an artist. I can still remember the hundreds bones and skulls scattered everywhere. It was so surreal. They were truly all over the place. Yet the memory that stayed with me most wasn’t the dark part. It’s the feeling that with all the signs of death, there was also so much life. It felt so much alive. And that paradox, that tension between the two, is something I still carry with me.
